With a lot more time on his hands since he finished work on sketch show Key And Peele, Jordan Peele has been busy gathering the cast for his stab at directing a horror thriller. Catherine Keener is the latest addition to the roster for Get Out.

Despite Peele's comedy roots, this is intended to be a straight horror-thriller, albeit with the director promising a fresh take on the genre. Get Out finds a young man (Sicario’s Daniel Kaluuya) on a trip with his girlfriend (Allison Williams) to visit her family’s estate. The plot beyond that is being kept locked in a secure location, but given the genre, we can imagine that things will go badly – i.e. more than just the usual awkwardness of meeting your other half’s family for the first time.

What Keener will be up to in the film has also not been revealed, though we can see her playing Williams’ mother. Last seen in Begin Again and on HBO miniseries Show Me A Hero, she’ll show up in indie movies We Don’t Belong Here and November Criminals and is once again voicing Ugga for DreamWorks Animation’s The Croods 2, due on December 22, 2017.
