It took longer to get into production than was initially planned, but Peter Bogdanovich's new film is finally underway, and with that news comes a couple of new casting stories. There still seems to be some confusion about whether we're to call the film Squirrels To The Nuts or She's Funny That Way, but what's certain is that Will Forte and Tatum O'Neal have joined the acting roster that already includes Jennifer Aniston, Owen Wilson, Imogen Poots, Richard Lewis and Cybil Shepherd{ =nofollow}.

The showbiz comedy is another in a recent string of plum roles for SNL veteran Forte, who currently has Life Of Crime, Run And Jump and Nebraska in the can awaiting release, and just scored an Emmy nomination for his guest role in the final season of 30 Rock.

O'Neal meanwhile, was last seen in This Is 40 and The Runaways, and is returning to the Bogdanovich fold after a 36 year break: she last acted for him as a child, in Paper Moon and Nickelodeon.

Olivia Wilde and Brie Larsen were previously attached to the lead role at different points, but the film now stars Poots as the call girl who gets a shot at Broadway stardom when she turns the head of Wilson's theatre director. Debi Mazar (Entourage) is playing Poots' madame, with Lewis and Shepherd as her parents.

Aniston is playing a dodgy therapist, with - get this - Joanna Lumley playing her mother, and Forte is the playwright whose work Wilson is staging. O'Neal's role seems essentially to be a cameo appearance, the details of which are being kept under wraps.

Wes Anderson and Noah Baumbach are among the producers, and Funny That Way To The Nuts (a compromise title we've just invented) is shooting as we speak.
