When Ben Stiller pitches you a comedy idea, you listen. When he brings in a writer whose credits include not only his own, much-missed show, but also The Simpsons and King Of The Hill, you snap that pitch up faster than Paris Hilton changes dogs.

20th Century Fox have been quick to pick up Brent Forrester’s comedy spec Big Wave. The plot follows the world’s greatest surfer, who ditches the sport after a bad wipeout. In true sporting hero style, he returns to the water years later to save an old surfers’ home.

Stiller’s Red Hour company is producing and they’ve hired surfing video experts Emmett and Brendan Malloy (who have also signed up to direct Zach Braff’s coming-of-age film 8 Track for Fox). Anyone see Vince Vaughn pulling on a pair of big shorts?
