This could be considered a spoiler for a film that's out today, so please think about how much you want to know about I'm Still Here before reading on.

Ready?

Casey Affleck, ace actor, brother of Ben and director of I'm Still Here, talked to The New York Times about his Joaquin Phoenix 'documentary' recently and revealed what many already suspected: it's less a documentary and more "performance art".

“It’s a terrific performance, it’s the performance of his career,” said Affleck, before confirming that "virtually none" of the film was real. "I never intended to trick anybody. The idea of a quote, hoax, unquote, never entered my mind.”

Affleck said that there are clues in the movie - the camera technique becomes more sophisticated as the film goes on - but admits that there's no slam-dunk moment where the film shows its hand.

If you want to judge the results for yourself, the film's out today. For more from Affleck, head on over to the New York Times.
