This past weekend at the US box office was billed as the clash of the comedy titans, but it proved to be a rather one-sided battle. Get Smart, the Steve Carell-starring update of a '60s TV show about a bumbling spy, took an extremely healthy $39.2 million. The Love Guru, which marked the live-action return of Mike Myers and has been receiving poisonous reviews, did rather less well, scratching together a rather pitiful $14 million. By comparison, Myers' last live-action movie, The Cat In The Hat, opened with $38.3 million.

The weak haul put Guru in only fourth position, being bested by Kung Fu Panda ($21.7 million) and The Incredible Hulk ($21.6 million). The Happening felt a sharp drop-off of 67%, taking another $10 million and arriving at a so-so $50.3 million after two weeks. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull edged closer to the $300 million mark, which it should make by next weekend. The fourth Indiana Jones movie recently crossed $683 million worldwide.
