The Director of the Cannes Film Festival, Gilles Jacob, yesterday announced the line-up of films chosen to compete in Official Selection for this year's festival. The selection, which holds few surprises, includes Joel Coen's The Man Who Wasn't There, Dreamworks'** Shrek**, David Lynch's Mulholland Drive and Sean Penn's The Pledge. In addition to previewing the films in and out of competition, Jacob also announced that Melanie Griffith will be one of this year's festival's guest of honour - and will be awarded the Festival Trophy following a screening of the movie Working Girl.
