Bad news for fans of Caitlin Moran and her much-lauded TV comedy Raised By Wolves. Channel 4 has decided not to recommission the show for a third season, leaving its central family, the Garry clan, temporarily homeless.

The semi-autobiographical show, set on a Wolverhampton housing estate, is written by Moran and her sister Caz. It follows the fortunes – and misfortunes – of single mum Della Garry (Rebekah Staton), her oldest daughters Germaine (Helen Monks) and Aretha (Alexa Davies) and their other family members.

"We are incredibly proud of launching Raised By Wolves,” read a Channel 4 statement, "and introducing the exploits of Della, Germaine, Aretha and their family to audiences, however Channel 4 is committed to a range of brand new series for next year. We wish Caitlin, Caz and our friends at Big Talk all the best.”

Is Moran taking this news lying down? Is she bollocks. She’s taken to the mattresses (okay, Facebook) to gather a popular movement (#upthewolves) and find a new home for a show she describes as the “only [on] TV in Britain by and about working class women”. A third series is already planned and a new home is needed to share it with the world.

Moran wants your help. “Like Kevin Costner, we want you to come and dance with wolves,” she extols. “Join the Rebel Alliance.” To specify: this isn’t the actual Rebel Alliance, so you won’t have to fly into any Death Stars. Just head to the show’s Facebook page and lend your support. The Raised By Wolves team awaits you.

Diablo Cody is currently taking Raised By Wolves to the US, locating from the Midlands to the Midwest.
