If you've seen our recent Twitter video about movies on the way next month, you'll no doubt know that at least some of Team Empire is excited about the latest film from Roland Emmerich, Moonfall. The master of disaster's 2022 offering is headed our way soon and a new trailer offers another look at the chaos...

Roughly in keeping with its predecessors, this latest glimpse of the story, which sees a mysterious force knock the moon from its orbit and send it hurtling towards the Earth, promising to end life as we know it. With mere weeks before impact and the world on the brink of annihilation, NASA executive and former space jockey Jo Fowler (Halle Berry) is convinced she has to key to save us – but only an astronaut from her past (Patrick Wilson's Brian Harper) and conspiracy theorist KC Houseman ( John Bradley) believe her. Cue a mission into space, one that leads to a surprising revelation about the moon itself (which, let's be honest, all the trailers so far have roundly begun to explain.

Emmerich wrote this one alongside regular collaborators Spenser Cohen and Harald Kloser, and naturally the moon's big shift leads to social chaos and then destruction on a mass scale as the tides are affected.

Moonfall makes its landing in the US and UK on 4 February.
