With production minutes – okay, days – away from kicking off on X-Men: Apocalypse, Bryan Singer is back on social media to drop another teasing look at the movie via the medium of production art. He’s been posting pictures from the pre-production phase and today brings a look at what we can only guess is one Warren Worthington III, AKA Angel.

The image offers an intriguing possibility for what could be happening to the winged one in this film (the character last appeared in person in X-Men: The Last Stand and was listed in **Days Of Future Past **as having died in a mutant demonstration, though of course the timeline is fluid these days, so here we are). Is he on display in some cruel sideshow? Imprisoned? In a research facility? We’ll have to wait for some footage to say for sure, but it points to difficult times ahead for Angel, particularly since the Apocalypse storyline has traditionally seen him approach the powerful mutant to help remove his powers, only to be turned into the dangerous henchman Archangel.

X-Men: Apocalypse is set in the 1980s and finds the likes of Professor X (James McAvoy), Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) and Beast (Nicholas Hoult) dealing with the threat of Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac).

Also aboard? Younger versions of Storm, Cyclops, Nightcrawler and Jean Grey, played by Alexandra Shipp, Tye Sheridan, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Sophie Turner, alongside returning First Class veteran Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert. Singer will be shooting soon in Montreal and X-Men: Apocalypse is due out on May 19, 2016.
