Bryan Singer’s ‘Dangerous Mind’

From X-Men to Hitman

X-Men director Bryan Singer's next project will be Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. Written by Being John Malkovich scribe Charlie Kaufman, the film is (unsurprisingly) a twisted, dark comedy. It's a psuedo biopic of Chuck Barris, the American TV presenter who presided over the remarkably tacky Gong Show. Barris's 'autobiography', also called Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, was a bizarre mix of fact and fiction, wherein he alleged that, as well as being a cheesy quiz show host, he'd also been a CIA assassin. No-one was quite sure whether these boasts were supposed to be taken seriously, and it's this ambiguity which seems to have appealed to Kaufman and Singer, as well as the big names who have been linked to the Barris role, which include Mike Myers, Jim Carrey and Kevin Spacey. The film will mix Barris's dubious hitman past with his more well-documented Gong Show antics.
