A rags-to-riches (back to rags and – spoiler alert! – to riches again) story is the sort of plot studios just can't get enough of. Particularly when it's true. Well, mostly. The first trailer for Netflix's new drama Girlboss has arrived online, starring Britt Robertson.

Girlboss is based on the life and ambitions of Sophia Amoruso, who chronicled the peaks and troughs of her self-carved career in her book #Girlboss.

Robertson is starring as Sophia, who had been living as a broke anarchist and was staunchly refusing to evolve into adulthood. But then she finds that she can merge her passion with entrepreneurial spirit and starts selling vintage clothes. As her business grows, she starts to learn how to run both her job and her life.

The new series, due on the streaming service next year, comes from Pitch Perfect writer Kay Cannon, who has wrangled to show into being. The likes of Johnny Simmons, Ellie Reed, Alphonso McAuley and Amanda Rea also feature and it'll hit Netflix starting 21 April.
