Brian Grazer is clearly in a comedic, and highly controversial, mood. He and Universal are cooking up a comedy called Prodigal Son that his wife (Gigi) and Mimi James will write.
The plot finds a woman set up on a blind date by her mother. The man turns out to be a handsome and caring carpenter employed at Ikea. But… surprise! He’s actually Jesus, returned to the Earth for Armageddon. Yeah, that’s not going to piss anybody off, is it?
"It's a love it or hate it idea, but we're not aiming to offend," Mrs Granger told Variety. "He won't be having sex. It'll be a disarming romantic comedy, a story of unrequited love, sort of like Splash.”
And just what made her think of the idea? "You see something basic like Britney Spears showing her crazy monkey to everybody, you find yourself thinking, is this the fall of the Roman Empire?"
We’re not sure if she’s referring to Britney going commando or Kevin Federline. The choice is yours…
