Things have been fairly quiet on the Daredevil reboot front during the last few months, but Hard Candy/30 Days of Night director David Slade, who is developing the new film for 20th Century Fox, has been promising on his Twitter account that we’ll start to see some news soon. Well, now there’s news: Brooklyn’s Finest** writer Brad Caleb Kane has been handed the gig to write the script.

Kane, who scored a lot of script doctoring work off the back of Brooklyn, usually spends his days writing on sci-fi drama Fringe, but it appears he’ll also have to find time for a hefty challenge – Slade and fox want him adapting Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli’s Born Again comics run.

One of the most acclaimed Daredevil stories ever crafted, Born Again finds Matt Murdock hounded to the point of insanity by his nemesis, the Kingpin. With his home and possessions lost, the wayward hero starts to believe that his friends – including loyal law office partner and pal Foggy Nelson – are all part of a conspiracy against him. He hits absolute rock bottom before a misstep by the Kingpin allows him to fight his way back. The story even includes an appearance by Captain America, though given Fox doesn’t own the rights to the character, we wouldn’t expect to see Chris Evans anywhere near the eventual film.

Right now, Slade and Kane are the only names attached. With no script written yet, casting has yet to be locked in, so there’s no idea who will play Murdock in this new outing for the blind-but-sonically-gifted Man Without Fear.
