Machinist director's next thriller

Brad Anderson, the man who persuaded Christian Bale to stop eating for months and start looking like a living skeleton in The Machinist, is back with a fresh tale of terror and suspense.

Spanish mini-studio Filmax has given him the cash to make Transiberian, a thriller about a pair of travellers who, after visiting Beijing, decided to hop aboard the legendary titular train link to Moscow. Despite finding that the people already riding the huge train are a little unusual, they manage to befriend the others sharing their compartment. But – because this is a Brad Anderson film and not the new Disney film – their trip descends into a nightmare of lies and betrayal. And, we’re guessing, death.

Anderson starts shooting in Spain and Eastern Europe in October and we’ll bring you word on who he’ll be torturing, sorry, directing, as soon as we have it.
