There have been so many films about serial killers that you begin to wonder when the genre which run out of twists. But Bold Films thinks it might have found a new one, attaching Brad Anderson to make Jack.

The Transsiberian filmmaker will tackle the tale of a serial slaughterer who develops amnesia and falls for a doctor. But then brutal memories of his crimes start to surface, and he has to decide whether he wants to stick to the straight and narrow or get his hands bloody again. Whatever shall he choose?

Since it’s a thriller, and not a romantic comedy, we’re guessing he goes down the more violent path.

"Jack is an incredibly commercial thriller, laced with tension and suspense, so it's important to have the right director to bring those aspects to life. Brad Anderson has a unique psychological intensity that will make for a memorable theatrical experience," film sales company Affinity's spokesgob Brian O'Shea tells Variety. But then, he’s hardly going to call it “a bit rubbish, if we’re honest,” is he?

With a script by David Venable, Anderson will get started on the film in August, once he’s finished tweaking horror thriller Vanishing On 7th Street.
