Hope Springs director Mark Herman has found his next project in John Boyne’s novel The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas.

Set in 1942, the story follows a young lad who is told that his father’s won a promotion at work and the family has to move to a new house far away. The new location offers him no one to play with and nothing to do, except explore close to the fence that stretches as far as the eye can see. He meets another boy whose life has taken a very different turn, and they become friends. But soon a terrible truth becomes apparent...

With Harry Potter’s David Heyman producing, the film starts shooting next April in Eastern Europe.
