Billy Elliot walked off with four British Independent Film Awards last night (25 October), including Best Film. The heartwarming tale of a young ballet dancer has been a smash hit with British and American audiences and is already being tipped for Oscar success. And if the British Independent Film Awards are anything to go by, it's definitely in with a chance. The full list of awards garnered by Billy Elliot is Best Film, Best Director (Stephen Daldry), Best Screenplay (Lee Hall) and Best Newcomer for 14 year old star Jamie Bell. Other winners at the ceremony include Gillian Anderson, who won Best Actress for her role in The House of Mirth, and Daniel Craig, Best Actor winner for Some Voices.
