It's been a long time coming, but The Other Boleyn Girl's trailer has finally arrived online, here. And even by the standards of historical epics, this is a spoilerific trailer - the entire film appears to be in these brief two minutes.

The focus of the film are Mary (Johansson) and Anne (Portman) Boleyn, both of whom had affairs with Henry VIII (Bana) at the behest of their family, in order to secure the family's status.

The problem is that the trailer appears to reveal some deviation from history, and from the book by Philippa Gregory on which the film is based. Here, Anne is originally the one set to snare the King, only for Scarlett to accidentally intervene - whereas in real life and in the book, Anne was still in France as a lady-in-waiting to Queen Claude when Mary's affair began. She was brought back to England to fill her sister's shoes when the King began to tire of Mary's charms, and (so the book goes) Mary was ordered by their father and uncle to tutor Anne in pleasing the King, so that she could take her sister's place.

But then, Hollywood and historical accuracy have never been easy bedfellows, so perhaps it's only to be expected. The Other Boleyn Girl is out on March 7, so we've got time to decide - does history matter in a case like this?
