Channelling more from the Gordon Ramsey side of the culinary experience than, say, Bake-Off, Philip Barantini's new drama Boiling Point finds Stephen Graham as a chef who is facing some serious challenges in the kitchen and out of it. Check out the first trailer...

The film is set on ‘Magic Friday’, the last Friday before Christmas and the busiest night of the year. Andy Jones (Graham), Head Chef at one of the top restaurants in London, is battling debts, addiction and an imploding personal life. The pressure is already on when health and safety services unexpectedly show up for inspection.

Co-written by the director and James Cummings, Boiling Point adapts Barantini's 2019 short, which also starred Graham and some of the other cast. Shot to look like a single take (it was actually filmed over two days just before the government shut down the film industry last year as the pandemic gripped the world), it promises a typically great performance by Graham, backed by the likes of Vinette Robinson, Jason Flemyng, Jordan Alexandra, Ray Panthaki and Hannah Walters.

Following its world premiere at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, the film is having its UK premiere at the BFI London Film Festival this evening. And it'll be out in cinemas on 3 December.
