It's just been announced as both opening this year's Venice Film Festival and competing for a Golden Lion, so it's perhaps no surprise that a trailer has appeared online for Brian De Palma's The Black Dahlia.
Based on James Ellroy's novel and starring Josh Hartnett, Aaron Eckhart and Scarlett Johansson, the 1940’s-set film sees two cops investigating the notorious and grisly murder of wannabe actress Elizabeth Short (Mia Kirshner). As they dig deeper into the crime, they begin to realise a web of corruption in the LA police department – and that danger may be closer to home than they think.
