Reese gets street smart in Original Gangsta Bitches

Traditional gender roles still hold sway in Hollywood, with many a damsel still firmly in distress; but we do get the occasional film where girl power wins out over flagging machismo. Michelle Yeoh, Sigourney Weaver and Linda Hamilton are but three female stars who have the certain je ne sais quoi that sends villains of both sexes running for their very lives. But, as far as we can tell, Reese Witherspoon possesses no such quality. Last seen in fluffy, pink ensemble and wielding a Chihuahua with ruthless efficiency in Legally Blonde, Reese is shaking off her sweet demeanour and getting in touch with her primal instincts as the lead in action comedy Original Gangsta Bitches. Many of you may have found Reese to be the essential ingredient sadly lacking from such otherwise accomplished films as Menace II Society and Boyz N The Hood, but you'll finally get to see her in action as the flaxen-haired actress hits the 'hood, strapped for trouble with her 'nine' in hand. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is pitched as a bizarre combination of Thelma & Louise and Rush Hour and will see Reese as a mild-mannered white woman who teams up with a street-smart homegirl and learns to use her god-given talents to get what she wants. You go girl!
