It looks like Tim Burton's Alice is back from Wonderland, as Mia Wasikowska joins unconventional indie family drama The Kids Are All Right, alongside Annette Bening, Julianne Moore, Mark Ruffalo and Josh Hutcherson.
Taking on the role of a young girl brought up by a same sex-couple (Bening and Moore), she seeks out the sperm donor (Ruffalo) used to father herself and her brother (played by Journey To The Center Of The Earth's Hutcherson). Subsequently, the introduction of a father figure into the family dynamic throws a massive spanner in the works.
Wasikowska is of course Tim Burton's very own Alice In Wonderland, which we saw a sneak preview of in last week's Wonderland art. Multi Academy Award nominees Bening and Moore, who play the kids' two mums, have both been quiet of late, but have a busy year ahead, Bening having five movies in the pipeline and Moore six, including playing Hilary Clinton in **The Special Relationship **alongside Michael Sheen's Tony Blair.
The flick is directed by sometime L-Word director and indie film-maker Lisa Cholodenko, who co-wrote the script with The Girl Next Door scribe Stuart Blumberg. Filming on the project starts today for release next year.
