He’s only just now shooting his latest film – real-life hostage drama Argo – but it appears Ben Affleck is already lining up a possible future gig, entering talks to star in, direct and producer the thriller **Line of Sight **for Warner Bros.

Joel Silver is backing the new film, which was originally written as a spec by F Scott Frazier. The plot follows an elite commando squad who are transporting cargo while dealing with a huge global threat.

So far, so standard thriller pitch, but the hook for this one, and what we assume Silver and co hope will be a strong selling point, is that the story is largely told from the point of view of one of the characters, much like a first-person shooter. It’s no surprise to learn that the script has recently seen some tweaking from Peter O’Brien, who wrote Halo: Reach for the Xbox.

We’ve just one slight concern: does anyone remember Doom? That was touted for its first-person shooter section, and that turned out to be really, really annoying. Of course, the film itself wasn’t great, but if the FPS angle isn’t pulled off properly, we predict it’ll just turn a lot of the audience off.

Still, Affleck has proved he can handle action with The Town and Silver’s no stranger to such things either. So if it comes together, Line of Sight could be something different and fun…
