Having hung his Bat-armour up for the final time, Ben Affleck is well and truly moving on to other projects. And he's found a new film to direct and star in, preparing to tackle true World War II story Ghost Army.

Universal snapped up the rights to Rick Beyer's book, which tells of a squadron of American soldiers who were picked for their creativity and ingenuity and then fashioned into the ultimate smoke-and-mirrors trick. The soldiers used blow-up tanks, fake radio transmissions and noise machines to deceive the German forces, making them believe that, among other things, armies were in certain positions where, in actuality, no armies were even close. The squad is credited in saving countless lives with their ruses. Shazam!'s Henry Gayden wrote a draft of the adaptation, with True Detective's Nic Pizzolatto working on the most recent version.

Affleck is on to also produce the film via his Pearl Street Films. He's on small screens now in Netflix film Triple Frontier and has worked on the likes of Torrance and The Last Thing He Wanted.
