Beauty Sweeps the Board

As the 72nd Oscars heads towards the final biggest categories, the two most hotly-tipped movies began picking up awards. American Beauty, the most hyped movie of the ceremony had to wait until the third hour of the evening before it picked up its fist award, for Cinematography. The other hotly-tipped flick Cider House Rules also picked up its first award for Best Adapted Screenplay, which went to author John Irving who adapted his own novel and, in a nod to the protestors outside, dedicated his award to the Abortion Rights League. American Beauty edged ahead with the award for Best Original Screenplay. And the final four big awards went as follows...
