Halloween: H20, the 20th anniversary sequel to the horror classic, topped the midweek box-office charts on its release in the States on Wednesday, taking $5.1 million and outdoing Saving Private Ryan for the first time since the war movie was released. Whether it will beat Spielberg's offering this weekend remains to be seen, but since the slasher pic cost a modest $17 million to make, profits for Miramax will be sizable. Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her role as Laurie Strode in the horrorfest, which also stars Adam Arkin, Michelle Williams, LL Cool J and Jamie's mother, Janet Leigh.
