Originally developed as a movie for DreamWorks Animation, Trollhunters has since been moved to the company's TV division and has found a home at Netflix. Check out the first trailer for the fantasy adventure series.
Spearheaded by Guillermo del Toro when he was brought aboard to develop projects at the studio, Trollhunters finds a young man named Jim (the late Anton Yelchin, in one of his final roles) and his best mates discovering that beneath the seemingly ordinary town of Arcadia lurks a hidden battle between good and evil troll forces, with ramifications for their lives and everyone around then.
Jim in particular is chosen to be the Trollhunter, the warrior who must fight off the nasty, scheming likes of Bular (Ron Perlman. He now faces the challenge of being a hero while also maintaining good grades in school.
With Greg Tiernan directing and del Toro joined on the scripting front by Marc Haimes and Tom Wheeler, Trollhunters' first season will arrive on Netflix on December 23.
