There's never been a better way to distinguish hot properties from has-beens in Hollywood than totting up the number of alleged films a star has supposedly signed up for. That being the case, one of Tinseltown's most sizzling stars at the moment has to be Ben Affleck.
On top of numerous bona fide films that Affleck is due to appear in this year, came the rumour over New Year that Affleck was on the verge of joining the latest Batman project, alongside on-off girlfriend Gwyneth Paltrow as Catwoman.
The rumour, which was first publicised in the New York Post, was quickly scotched by Ben on his website www.affleck.com. 'this story is absurd,' said the actor in a posting on the site the day after the rumour was published. 'There is no Batman script, no movie being planned, they have not called me or my agent and Gwyneth is much more the "Electra" (daredevil reference) type.'
