Banderas Abandons Attaturk Project

Antonio Banderas has announced that he will not now play Kemal Attaturk in the projected biopic of the founder of modern Turkey. His decision follows a campaign of protests and hate mail from Greek-Americans directed at the Spanish sex-bomb. The $25 million-dollar film was to have been produced by Tarquin Olivier, the son of Laurence Olivier, but much of the financing was dependent upon Banderas playing the lead.
