When Avengers: Endgame hits the big screen next week – cue hyperventilation – it will mark the culmination of 22 films, going right back to 2008’s Iron Man. All those characters, all those plot threads, all those infinity stones have been leading to this – and the latest trailer for Marvel’s blockbuster epic really wants you to know it. To do just that, it cycles through every MCU movie so far, showing glimpses of each film in the story – yes, even referencing The Incredible Hulk (even if it uses footage of Ruffalo’s Hulk rather than Edward Norton’s). If you want to get extra-excited for Endgame, without subjecting yourself to anything major in the way of new footage, watch here.
It’s a pretty epic teaser, a reminder of how far these heroes have come over the last decade, and how confident and varied Marvel Studios has been in its output. From the more grounded origin story of Iron Man, to the cosmic blasts of Guardians and Captain Marvel, and the psychedelic flourishes of Doctor Strange. As for Endgame itself, there’s a lovely group shot of the survivors gathered in Avengers HQ, more glimpses of the gang in their Quantum Realm suits, and a brief glimpse of Thanos. Whatever it takes.
Avengers: Endgame arrives in UK cinemas on 25 April – that’s next Thursday, people! And breathe.
