Disney is wasting no time putting the pieces together for its next animation-to-live-action/CG transition job, with The Lego Ninjago Movie director Charlie Bean already hired to make Lady And The Tramp. And the first voice hired for one of the CG critters? Ashley Jensen.

She'll play the part of Jackie, a Scottish Terrier and a gender-switched take on Jock from the original, who happens to be one of Lady's loyal supporters. The story should maintain a similar plot, which finds an American cocker spaniel falling for a street-smart mongrel named Tramp, and going on adventures together. The spaghetti dinner scene has long become an iconic representation of on-screen romance.

Andrew Bujalski wrote the script for the movie, which won't see cinemas, but is instead headed for the Mouse House's new planned streaming service, where it'll be exclusively available alongside new content from other arms of the entertainment octopus including Pixar, Lucasfilm and Marvel. There's no date set yet, but then the service itself only has a rough late 2019 launch announced so far.
