One of the many movies affected by the current pandemic, Antebellum was originally supposed to be on screens last month. It has found a fresh slot – in the States, at least – and has a new trailer to mark the moment, while keeping its mysterious nature intact.

Antebellum has Janelle Monáe playing successful author Veronica Henley, who finds herself trapped in a horrifying reality and must uncover the mind-bending mystery before it’s too late. And that's about it for the official synopsis - what we have here is another look at Monáe's character, who is seemingly whisked off to slavery-era America while the past invades the present and hallucinations abound. Is she imagining it? Is it time travel?

Writer/directors Gerard Bush and Christopher Renz are behind the film, which also stars Jack Huston, Kiersey Clemons, Gabourey Sidibe and Jena Malone. It's currently set for a 21 August release in the US, which could still shift again if the worldwide situation changes. But fingers crossed we get to see it before too long in the UK.
