Another Villain For G.I. Joe

As we've said several times, the world of G.I. Joe is pretty much alien to us, other than as something that American kid who joined our junior school thought was really cool (whatever, He-Man rules). But we know enough to be aware that one of the series' big villains is Destro and that his casting has got to be major news for Stephen Sommers' movie.

IESB reports that the film has finally found its big bad in the form of David Murray. Who? Exactly. Murray is apparently primarily a British theatre actor, so new to the movie scene that a Google image search turned up mainly a jazz saxophonist and, oddly, many many teachers. So we have no idea what he looks like, but we wish him well.

According to IESB, Destro is officially described by Hasbro as : "the faceless power behind Military Armaments Research System, the largest manufacturer of state-of-the-art weaponry. To DESTRO, war is man's most natural state: the fittest survive and the greatest technological advances are made. He maintains a luxurious lifestyle around the world. DESTRO provides high-tech arms to any side able to meet his price and will incite war where it does not exist. He dons his silver battle mask (a family tradition) and enters battle himself, either with COBRA Command (DESTRO is their major weapons supplier) or against them if it's better for business. DESTRO respects the G.I. JOE team for their combat skills and expertise, but abhors them for wasting such skills to maintain peace. He's totally dedicated to seeing them undermined, subverted, or destroyed!"

He sounds a little cranky. He should up his fibre intake.
