With Little Miss Sunshine co-directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris finally getting things moving on their next project – the Paul Dano-starring comedy drama He Loves Me, the pair has been scouting around for some other cast members. Now they have Annette Bening in negotiations to join the film.

Dano is playing Calvin, a young man who has enjoyed massive success as a novelist, but finds himself suffering a serious case of writer’s block brought on by heartache and loneliness. But then he crafts a story about the woman of his dreams and, as luck would have it, she comes to life and becomes his girlfriend. The dream lover will be played by Zoe Kazan, who is not only Dano’s real-life girlfriend, but also wrote the script.

We’ll also get to meet Calvin’s mother, Gertrude (Bening) a painter who is intrigued by the new woman in her son’s life, but more concerned by how much he hates her new husband.

Now that the ensemble is starting to come together, Faris and Dayton are planning to kick off shooting next month.
