Actress Anne Bancroft has died at the age of 73. She passed away on Monday night in hospital in New York, and is survived by her husband, Mel Brooks, and son Max. Still best known, much to her dismay, for her iconic role as Mrs Robinson in The Graduate, Bancroft actually had a successful stage and screen career spanning six decades. She began her career in the early 1950s, appearing in TV shows briefly before graduating to the silver screen. Born Anna Maria Louise Italiano, she began her career under the name Anne Marno
