It’s been seven years since Anjelica Huston sat down in the director’s chair for 1999’s Agnes Browne.

But she’s been lured back by Junebug writer Angus MacLachlan’s adaptation of Daniel Woodrell’s novel Give Us A Kiss.

The plot finds a struggling crime writer who heads to his hometown to locate his older brother, Smoke, who’s on the lam from the police. As our hero – Doyle – searches for his brother, he falls for Smoke’s sexy stepdaughter, hatches a plan to get him out of trouble and also has to deal with a neighbouring, rival family.

Focus Features is producing, though there’s no start date or casting yet.
