Director Paul Anderson will write and direct Resident Evil, based on the Playstation game. Anderson is no stranger to video game adaptations, having previously made 1995's Mortal Kombat. Resident Evil is about a special military unit who have to fight hordes of flesh-eating zombies after a supercomputer goes out of control. Production will start in London early next year, but there are no casting details available yet. Anderson previously directed the exceptionally gruesome sci-fi Event Horizon, which bodes well for the gore level of Resident Evil. The game has sold over 17 million copies worldwide, and spawned three sequels.
