Has Anakin Signed?

As the rumour surrounding the casting of Anakin Skywalker for Star Wars Episode 2 comes to a climax, one name has emerged as the leading candidate, Canadian actor Hayden Christensen. Earlier in the week, Variety ran with the report that the 19-year-old Hayden was the centre of buzz on the role. A relatively unknown actor, Christensen's cv features mainly TV roles including the Fox Family Channel soap Higher Ground. Both Lucasfilm and Hayden's agents have failed to comment on the rumours and the official Star Wars site stands apart from the scrum in refusing to comment on the furore. Whether they'll be able to remain aloof while speculation rages on remains to be seen - we'll keep you posted.
