Having sat in the development garage for a few years now, picking up producers such as Martin Scorsese, Anthony Haas and, before his death, Richard Attenborough all attached, Rolls Royce tale Silver Ghost has been severely lacking a director. Now, however, Amy's Asif Kapadia is climbing aboard.

The late Lord Attenborough had been spearheading development on the film, which chronicles the working relationship between Charles Stewart Rolls and Henry Royce, the early days of the aviation industry and a passionate romance. “What struck me when I read Silver Ghost was how this true story weaves together the lives of five remarkable people that changed the destiny of the Western world," says Kapadia, "and I am delighted to be working together with the legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese and Anthony Haas to bring it to the screen.”

Scorsese has been a producer on this once since 2012, with Haas on even longer. Perhaps now the film will finally get made. “When Richard Attenborough was asked how he would like to be remembered, he replied, ‘As a storyteller,'” says Haas. “Asif also knows how to tell a deeply personal and epic story and Silver Ghost is an amazing untold tale of the highs and lows of what makes us human.”

Kapadia's latest, romantic drama Ali And Nino, has just premiered at Sundance and is on the search for a distributor.
