The cast of David O. Russell's The Fighter continues to get more impressive by the day, adding Amy Adams and raising its Oscar nominee levels to 75% (sorry, Christian Bale).

The film sees Mark Wahlberg play real-life boxer "Irish" Mickey Ward, with Bale as his troubled brother and trainer Dick Eklund. It follows them through their early days as Eklund struggles with drug addiction and Ward takes the long road to a world championship. Melissa Leo plays their mother; Adams would play a tough bartender and former college high-jumper (er, OK) called Charlene who acts as Ward's love interest.

The film begins shooting next month in Lowell, Massachussets, where Ward and Eklund really lived. After all the film's previous ups and downs, let's hope all goes smoothly now.
