Once upon a time, in the magical kingdom known as Hollywood, the gnomes who make the movies were tired of ripping pages from Shakespeare texts. They needed new source material for their high school and college-based flicks, and, when their greedy eyes alighted on fairy tales, their hearts leapt and their little hands clapped with joy.

Yes, we’ve been through the Bard’s best, and the likes of Cinderella have already seen the projector’s light. So it was only a matter of time before Snow White was fed into an apple (Mac) and out popped a film set at a US college.

Joe Nussbaum is directing the updated tale, which will star Amanda Bynes in Sydney White And The Seven Dorks. It’s the story of a Rachel, the reigning queen of the hotties at a US campus. She’s your archetypal rich bitch – choosing new members of her sorority based on Wealth and connections and ditching non-blondes. So her ire is raised when the very brunette Sydney (Bynes), the working-class plumber’s daughter becomes her rival for college favourite and hooks up with Blaine, president of the top fraternity.

We’re wondering if Rachel will have Bynes taken out to a nearby forest to have her heart cut out. But we doubt it… The film kicks off shooting in Florida in January.
