Just to prove that Pixar, Disney, DreamWorks and Blue Sky aren't the only people making animated films these days, here's Lionsgate's Alpha and Omega, a wolfie odd couple story starring the voice talent of Hayden Panetierre and Justin Long as the alpha female and omega male of their pack. So whadya think? Wolves are inherently interesting animals (and pretty cool ones to boot) and look cute 'n' cuddly as cubs, so it's a bit of a no-brainer to make an animated film about them eventually. The caribou run looks more than a little reminiscent of The Lion King (in homage rather than rip off, we're thinking) but the central story feels a little bit been there, seen that so far. Another high-achieving woman falling for a schlubby boyfriend who no doubt teaches her to lighten up and enjoy life? Still, there's a golf-playing goose, which is surely a good thing, and voice work from Christina Ricci, Dennis Hopper and Danny Glover.
Alpha and Omega comes out in the UK on October 22.
