We’re in that all-too-familiar time in the early stages of Warner Bros.’ attempt to keep the Harry Potter train rolling with spin-off Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them: the casting drip-feed period. Variety brings word that Alison Sudol is in negotiations to join Eddie Redmayne in the film.

Potter director David Yates is launching what Warner Bros. already plans as a new trilogy, adapted by J.K. Rowling herself from her book. Redmayne is starring as Newt Scamander, who plies his trade as a magizoologist around the world, and visits New York in the first adventure. The story takes place roughly 70 years before Harry and the rest have their tangle with the dark forces of Voldemort.

Sudol reportedly tested for the film alongside Katherine Waterston, who scored the role of Tina. The studio also has Ezra Miller, the future Flash for the DC Comics movies, in talks to play fellow magician Kedan. And it looks like Yates and his team are zeroing in on someone to play Newt’s big rival, Jacob, with Michael Cera, Josh Gad and, more recently, John Krasinski mentioned as potentials for that role. The film is set for November 18 next year.

And assuming she does make a final deal, this won’t be Sudol’s first time in contact with the Harry Potter franchise. While she’s been more known as a musician, she did appear this year in US TV miniseries Dig alongside Jason Isaacs, who spent several years donning a giant blond wig to play Lucius Malfoy in the films.
