We called it. Where is our “Called It” parade? All right, so it was just a throwaway mention, but in the poll attached to a story earlier this month about Marvel working on an Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. spin-off series, we mentioned Adrianne Palicki’s Bobbi “Mockingbird” Morse as a likely focus. Marvel and ABC were clearly ruminating along the same lines as Palicki and co-star/man with the most Marvel name ever Nick Blood are in talks to head up the developing series.

We’ll put a big SPOILER WARNING here, since the UK airings are running behind the US and would require a retina scan if we could, but here goes… While not much is known about the show yet, it looks set to feature the fizzy dynamics of ex-husband-and-wife team Morse and Lance Hunter, who have sparred with each other through the second season of the show. More recent developments have seen Morse aligning with Edward James Olmos’ Robert Gonzales and the people putting together an alternate S.H.I.E.L.D. in the wake of** Captain America: The Winter Soldier**’s revelations, which brought added tension to the story.

It would appear that Bobbi and Hunter will be off on their own adventures, and frankly any chance to give Mockingbird more to do is fine by us. S.H.I.E.L.D. executive producer Jeffrey Bell and co-executive producer Paul Zbyszewski are in charge of developing the show, looking to get a script ready for the network to decide upon before next month. How it will work in conjunction with the main series remains to be seen, depending on whether ABC wants to have it run concurrently, or put it in between seasons as the network did with Agent Carter. We’re hoping this doesn’t mean Peggy and the rest are being replaced.

And this is not the only new Marvel series bubbling away: 12 Years A Slave** writer John Ridley is also quietly developing a show behind a strict layer of security. Rumour has it that it could focus on more recent comics creation Ms. Marvel, Kamal Khan, but nothing has been officially announced yet.
