Comedic legend John Belushi has been brought to the screen a few times in the past – Michael Chiklis in 1989, for example, and John Gemberling in Netflix's A Futile And Stupid Gesture. Now Adam Pally may become the latest person to portray the man.

This biopic has been in the works for years now, passing through the hands of different writers, directors and actors in that time. According to Collider, David Frankel is currently in the director's chair, with a script from Steve Conrad, who had been attached to make it a decade ago.

Ike Barinholtz is on to be Dan Aykroyd in the film, while Aubrey Plaza's under consideration to be Belushi's wife.

Belushi famously rose from the ranks of Saturday Night Live to become one of the comic powerhouses in the 1970s, appearing in The Blue Brothers and Animal House, among others. And, infamously, he died of a drug overdose aged 33 at the Chateau Marmont hotel in LA. The film will apparently chart his glory days, and this certainly feels like something Pally could pull off – assuming it happens this time.
