Adam Driver in Paterson

Huge and star-making maybe, but Star Wars isn’t the only story for Adam Driver these days. He’s also got Jim Jarmusch’s new movie Paterson coming soon. The indie drama has a new US trailer to share and you can watch it below.

Jarmusch’s first since Only Lovers Left Alive sees Driver playing, well, a driver. Method casting or what? His bus driver is called Paterson and he lives in Paterson, New Jersey, where we’re invited to spend a week with him as he goes about his daily business and spends time with his girlfriend (Rosewater’s Golshifteh Farahani). He has a dog (not called Paterson) and he writes poetry in his spare time. There's a lot of it.

It’s not as existentially torpid as it sounds. Early word has Jarmusch crafting a typically distinctive character study that's by turns mellow and insightful. Driver could probably hold the screen reciting a phonebook, so we're intrigued to see how this suburban dude plays out on screen.

Paterson is released in the UK on 25 November.
