The Chicago publicity machine went into overdrive this weekend in the States when the film scooped three of the five film prizes at the Screen Actors Guild Awards ceremony on Saturday. As predicted by the pundits, Chicago took Best Cast, Best Actress (Zellweger) and Best Supporting Actress (Zeta-Jones), with Gangs of New York stealing one for Daniel Day Lewis and Christopher Walken taking home the Best Supporting Actor nod. Already the bookies' choice of Best Film for this year's Academy Awards, Chicago now looks set to romp home at the Oscars. This weekend also saw the Writers Guild of America give out their gongs. Best Original Screenplay went to Michael Moore for Bowling for Columbine. Best Adapted Screenplay went to David Hare for The Hours.
