Kevin Macdonald, the man behind Oscar-winning documentary One Day In September is building a healthy career on the fiction side of the movie fence.

Fresh from directing political drama The Last King Of Scotland, about Ugandan dictator Idi Amin, starring Forrest Whittaker, he’s now been hired by Warner Brothers to helm 28th Amendment.

It’s another political title, but this time entering the realm of fantasy. Mission: Impossible III scribes Robert Orci and Alex Kurtzman penned the spec script in 1999, and it helped them crack into the movie game. The plot focuses on a young, incoming US president who is led into a darkened room and shown footage of the Kennedy assassination from a brand new angle. He’s warned that unless he does the bidding of a secret cabal, he’ll be taken out. Hhhm… A secret organisation running the government behind a puppet president? Maybe it’s not so fictional after all.
