Tom McCarthy is gearing up to make his next film, with Matt Damon starring in new drama Stillwater. And he's now added a key element to the film, with Abigail Breslin on board to play Damon's daughter.

McCarthy co-wrote the script alongside Thomas Bidegain and Noé Debré, with the story following an American oil-rig worker from Oklahoma (Damon), who travels to Marseille to visit his estranged daughter who is in prison for a murder she claims she did not commit. Confronted with language barriers, cultural differences, and a complicated legal system, Bill makes it his personal mission to exonerate her. In the process, he develops a friendship with a local woman and her young daughter and embarks on a personal journey of discovery and a larger sense of belonging in the world.

The cameras are scheduled to start rolling next month on the film, which Damon boarded in May. As for Breslin, she'll be back on our screens in Zombieland: Double Tap, due out on 18 October, and with its first trailer now online
