Memory loss can be a tricky thing to deal with in thrillers on screen – you have to get the tone right or it all just becomes silly. Abbie Cornish and Dermot Mulroney think that the script for Lavender has what it takes, signing on to co-star in the psychologically flavoured film.

Ed Gass-Donnelly, who most recently brought us The Last Exorcism Part II, is behind this one, which he co-wrote with Colin Frizzell. The film finds Cornish as a photographer who must grapple with severe memory issues. Clues start to pop up in her work that suggests she might just be responsible for the death of family members she never knew existed. We smell the scent of conspiracy, which probably doesn’t have much of a whiff of lavender about it. More... grapefruit, with a hint of fear.

All being well, and with the rights on sale at Cannes, Gass-Donnelly will start the cameras rolling later this month in Toronto.

Cornish will show up in mystery thriller Solace, which is out here on October 9, and action weather romp Geostorm, a film without a UK date as of yet. Mulroney will be back on our screens for Insidious: Chapter 3, which arrives in UK cinemas on June 5.
